DogSwim Canberra: Our Centre

Dog Swim Canberra offers welcoming, purpose-designed spaces where dogs can engage in dog hydrotherapy, recover, strengthen, and stay active in a safe and supportive environment.

Medium Size Underwater Treadmill Space

Medium Size Underwater Treadmill Space

Medium Size Underwater Treadmill Space

A separate area containing a medium size underwater treadmill ideal for smaller dogs or those requiring a more controlled environment. This treadmill allows precise adjustment of water depth and speed for gentle rehabilitation, strengthening, and early-stage recovery.

Treatment Room

Medium Size Underwater Treadmill Space

A private space for assessment, physiotherapy, and hands-on treatment. This room supports individualised care, detailed evaluation, and collaboration where needed.

Large Underwater Treadmill Area

Our 'main' area contains our high end underwater treadmill designed for medium to large dogs and advanced conditioning work. The larger treadmill supports confident movement, targeted strengthening (including resistance jets), and gait training in a safe, low-impact setting.

Waiting Room

Exercise Room

Large Underwater Treadmill Area

A calm, separate entry where dogs and owners can prepare before and after sessions. A space to minimise stress and allow time for settling in, discussion, and recovery.

DogSwim Canberra: Hydrotherapy Session Process

A dog standing in a water treadmill looking up.

Before the session:

  • Please do not feed your dog at least one hour before and after the session
  • Please bring a towel to dry your dog and an extra blanket for the car if the weather is cold
  • Please let the hydrotherapist know if there has been a change in your dog's health since the last appointment
  • Please ensure that your dog's vaccinations are up to date
  • Please wear clothes which will not be damaged by water

During the session

  • Please arrive 10-15 minutes early and walk your dog around in the car park to warm up muscles and to allow the pooch to urinate and/or defecate (please ensure that you clean up after your dog).
  • Session duration is anywhere between 15 - 30 minutes.
  • On arrival your dog will undergo a brief health check
  • Your dog will then be fitted with a buoyancy (floating) jacket or harness.
  • When starting out most dogs are in the water for a very short time (a few minutes) - the length of time will be increased as your dog's health/fitness improves.

Please postpone the session if your dog:

  • Is a bitch in season
  • Has an open wound that would be in the water
  • Is suffering from diarrhoea or vomiting (very important!)
    • If the water has to be drained, it takes at least a full day to drain, fill and get the water up to the correct temperature.
